Sr. Collision Reconstruction Engineer
James R. Schmidt, Jr., BSME, has been with DJS Associates, Inc. for over 10 years. Mr. Schmidt received his BSME from the University of Maryland where he continuously received Dean’s List Honors, was elected to Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society, and graduated magna cum laude in the top 1% of all graduating BSMEs. Mr. Schmidt’s experience ranges from inspecting collision sites and vehicles, to evaluating physical evidence resulting from a collision, ultimately reconstructing such things as vehicle speeds and dynamics, as well as timing of crash sequences. All types of collisions involving all types of motor vehicles, as well as pedestrians, are evaluated. Mr. Schmidt has significant expertise and proficiency in the utilization of state-of-the-art computer technology in the collection of field data, the analysis of photographs and vehicular damage, and the analysis and simulation of pre-impact, impact, and post-impact vehicle dynamics. Simulation output is utilized in the preparation of 3D computer animations to visually demonstrate the results of a reconstruction analysis. Mr. Schmidt is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
