Steven is a nationally recognized board-certified consultant in the areas of accident/collision reconstruction, highway safety and traffic engineering. Steven received his graduate degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University and his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University. He has testified as an expert in local, state and federal courts in numerous states. He has authored, lectured and taught courses across the United States and abroad on topics related to his expertise including collision reconstruction, computerized collision reconstruction and simulation programs, highway safety, demonstrative evidence and other areas. Steven is a member of many peer-reviewed professional societies including the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. He is also a diplomate in the National Academy of Forensic Engineers and the International Institute of Forensic Engineering Sciences. Steve is a licensed professional engineer in 10 states.

Laurence R. Penn
Laurence’s professional and technical skills are focused in the digital visual arts, 3D animation technology, and programming fields. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, certification in Digital Video Forensic Analysis and various online certifications for Visual Effects. Laurence joined DJS Associates in 2016 and assists with engineering computer animations, as well as analyzes video surveillance to re-create camera and object motion within a 3D world. He creates engineering computer animations through processing scan data, modeling, texturing, animating and compositing the final rendered deliverables. In addition to camera and object motion tracking for 3D scene reconstructions, Laurence performs digital video forensic analysis for authenticity and tampering. “Using various programming languages, he is able to efficiently automate repetitive 3D analysis tasks and produce interactive, multimedia-rich demonstratives. Outside of the forensic field, Laurence has programmed several interactive Apps and online tools, created tradeshow and medical animations, and delivered visual effect shots for a number of independent films.

R. Scott King, BSME
R. Scott has been with DJS Associates, Inc., since 1999 and specializes in the mechanical aspects of automobiles, small trucks, commercial trucks and other vehicles. He possesses a unique combination of hands-on vehicular repair experience and training, technical education, and mechanical design experience. He is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has worked in the aerospace industry designing aircraft flight control systems. As an automotive/vehicular engineering consultant, R. Scott performs mechanical inspections and engineering evaluations to determine the cause and origin of vehicular and truck failures and defects. R. Scott has authored and lectured to numerous associations across the United States on topics related to his areas of expertise including the latest in automotive and truck Event Data Recorder technology and GPS Forensics.

Hugh has been with DJS Associates, Inc., since 2007 and is the Director of 3D Engineering Animation and High-Definition Surveying (HDS). He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. Hugh’s background is in the area of 3D Visualization. He utilizes state-of-the-art data collection techniques, analysis, and 3D modeling to aid in the engineering analysis of vehicular collisions, mechanical processes and equipment and other forensic applications. The result of his work includes precise, court-accepted 3D environments and animations. Hugh has lectured to Forensic Engineering Associations, Insurance Groups and Legal Associations on High-Definition Surveying and Computer Animations.

Sr. Collision Reconstruction Engineer
Jim has been with DJS Associates, Inc., since 1998. He received his BSME from the University of Maryland where he continuously received Dean’s List Honors, was elected to Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society, and graduated magna cum laude in the top 1% of all graduating BSMEs. Jim’s experience ranges from inspecting collision sites and vehicles, to evaluating physical evidence resulting from a collision, ultimately reconstructing such things as vehicle speeds and dynamics, as well as timing of crash sequences. All types of collisions involving all types of motor vehicles, as well as pedestrians, are evaluated. Jim has significant expertise and proficiency in the utilization of state-of-the-art computer technology in the collection of field data, the analysis of photographs and vehicular damage, and the analysis and simulation of pre-impact, impact, and post-impact vehicle dynamics. Simulation output is utilized in the preparation of 3D computer animations to visually demonstrate the results of a reconstruction analysis. Jim is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Robert graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Robert has over 7 years of experience in automotive and motorcycle repair and modification. He utilizes the latest technology to investigate automotive/mechanical failures involving all types of vehicles including bicycles, motorcycles, passenger vehicles, tractor-trailers, and commercial vehicles.
Robert is an accomplished motorcycle enthusiast with experience in custom motorcycle design, modification, and fabrication. He has advanced motorcycle riding skills both on and off the roadway and has participated in skilled automotive events including drifting and drag racing. Automotive projects include performance tuning/testing; fabrication of components; electrical malfunctions and mechanical troubleshooting.

John graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. With a focus on mechanical defects, failure analysis and general system safety, and over 25 years of experience, John’s expertise extends to the investigation and analysis of child safety seats, seatbelts, seatbacks, restraint systems, industrial equipment, household appliances, forklifts, ladders, scaffolds, machine guards, automatic door relays and switches, wheelchair lifts & occupant restraints, patient lifts, and consumer products.
Additionally, John is a certified Child Passenger Safety Instructor and teaches classes on child passenger safety. A registered professional engineer in several states, John is also a member of numerous professional societies including National Academy of Forensic Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, among other. John is a nationally certified firefighter and emergency first responder and has training and experience regarding the operation of emergency vehicles.

Justin P. Schorr, Ph.D. received his Doctorate and Masters from The George Washington University (GWU) and attended Northwestern University for his undergraduate degree. Presently, Justin is a post-doctoral researcher and adjunct professor at GWU teaching Sustainable Urban Dynamics and Intelligent Transportation Systems – as well as the programming portion of Engineering Computations. Bob Lynch, a Mechanical Engineer with DJS Associates, specializes in collision reconstruction with an emphasis on pedestrian collisions, nighttime visibility analysis, heavy vehicle reconstruction and Crash Data Retrieval (CDR).
Bob received his MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia and his BA in Physics and Mathematics from Franklin and Marshall College. Bob is a Professional Engineer (PE) and has testified on behalf of both the plaintiff and defense. Additionally, he has lectured to several organizations in the legal and insurance industry. Jon W. Adams
Director of 3D Reality Capture*
Jon earned an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology: Multimedia from ITT Technical Institute prior to attending the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University, where he completed an advanced certificate course in Computer Animation: 3D Animation. He has taken many courses related to the proper use and interpretation of 3D laser scanning data/equipment and holds a Certificate in the operation and use of the FARO Focus 3D Laser Scanner. Jon holds Professional Certification for AutoDesk 3ds Max in Models to Motion and Surface and Look Development. He is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote pilot. Jon has been utilizing UAS-based photography to produce 3D photogrammetric data since 2014 and is a Pix4D Certified Expert.
Jon has 10 years of experience in both 3D modeling/animation and 3D laser scanning. He has conducted field investigations and analyzed hundreds of motor vehicles and sites and is an expert in producing three-dimensional exhibits based on accurate measurement information. Jon has planned, overseen, and compiled data for many historical preservation/building documentation projects, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Ferryboat Binghamton, and Mount Moriah Cemetery Gatehouse, all of which appear on the list of U.S. National Historic Landmarks.
*Reality capture is the activity of quickly and effectively collecting the best, most accurate data about real-world conditions. The most common type of reality capture uses laser scanners and UAV photogrammetry to produce simple images or 3D point clouds.
