As diligently as Steve worked for his clients and cultivating relationships with them, he exerted the same effort here at DJS by fostering an environment where employees became teammates, and teammates became family. Currently 34 members strong and growing, the DJS family includes paralegals and case managers; field technicians and data collection specialists; research, marketing and administrative professionals; technical support specialists; and animation, automotive, and collision reconstruction engineers. Together this team possesses a wealth of experience and knowledge in the forensic services industry.
Indeed, it is based on this experience, combined with the legacy and work ethic that Steve instilled in us, that the DJS family will proudly continue moving forward by providing our clients an unparalleled work ethic predicated on integrity, fairness, and solid experience. Laurence R. Penn
Senior Forensic Animation / Video Specialist
Laurence began working at DJS Associates in 2016 in the 3D Engineering Animations Department. His professional and technical skills are focused in the digital visual arts, 3D animation technology, and programming fields. After gaining his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Laurence earned certifications in Digital Video Forensic Analysis and in Visual Effects, among others.
Laurence creates engineering computer animations through processing scan data, modeling, texturing, animating, and compositing the final rendered deliverables. In addition to camera and object motion videogrammetry for 3D scene reconstructions, Laurence performs digital video forensic analysis for authenticity and tampering. Using various programming languages, he is able to efficiently automate repetitive 3D analysis tasks and produce interactive, multimedia-rich demonstratives.
Born in Southern England, Laurence has lived in Switzerland and frequently travels overseas to Europe with his wife and twin boys for family visits. His interests include spending time in the great outdoors, renovating his turn of the 20th century home, and wishing he had more tome to tinker on classic motorcycles and cars. When it’s time to relax, sci-fi films are first choice, especially from the Alien and Mad Max franchises.

Timothy R. Primrose
Mobile Forensic Analyst
Tim earned his degree in Digital Forensics, with a focus on Information and Technology Management, from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. As a Mobile Forensic Analyst, Tim handles securing, imaging, and analyzing mobile devices for the municipal, legal, and insurance industries. His services include the review and analysis of digital evidence casefile materials; securing, extracting, and storing of digital data evidence; creating, finalizing, maintaining, and executing formal documentation including chain of custody, consent, and release forms.
Tim was trained and certified as an Operator, Physical Analyst and Advanced Smartphone Analyst by Cellebrite. He works closely with the Automotive Engineering and Collision Reconstruction Departments to research, test, and analyze the connection of data from telecommunication systems to automobiles and their infotainment systems.
On the weekends, Tim enjoys eating chicken wings and watching the Philadelphia Eagles with his friends. When the birds aren’t playing, he and his girlfriend enjoy trips to Peddler’s village to take part in their monthly festivities. A little-known fact about Tim is that he earned Second-Degree Black Belt in Karate.

R. Scott King, BSME, CFEI
Principal Automotive/Mechanical Engineer
Scott has been with DJS Associates since 1999 and is an accomplished forensic engineer specializing in automotive and commercial trucking investigations. His rare blend of professional vehicle repair and mechanical engineering experience provides his clients an effective and efficient means of identifying and diagnosing root-cause factors in automotive forensic investigations. Event data recording technologies, vehicle steering and braking control systems, wheel detachment events, and vehicle repair industry best-practices are just of few of the technical areas he consults in regularly.
Scott graduated from Drexel University in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Taking exclusively evening classes while working full-time as a professional automotive repair technician, his educational focus was in Dynamic Systems and Control Theory and Application. Upon graduation, Scott accepted a position at the Boeing Company as a member of the Mechanical Flight Controls design team supporting the CH-47 Chinook Tandem-rotor program. Scott continues his professional development through on-going research and training, and now leads the Automotive Division as a principal engineer at DJS. Spanning nearly 40 years in the vehicle repair and forensic engineering industries, Scott applies his extensive experience in civil and criminal matters, as well as complex class-action litigation.
Scott has presented CLE and CE accredited seminars to numerous associations across the United States on topics related to his areas of expertise including the latest in automotive and truck Event Data Recorder (EDR) technology and GPS Forensics.
Most importantly, Scott is a married father of three who enjoys writing, deep-sea fishing, church and community volunteering, and not paying professionals to perform home improvement and repair projects he is convinced he can do himself!

Hugh Borbidge, BSME
Director of Engineering Animations
Hugh earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and began working for DJS Associates, Inc., as Director of 3D Engineering Animations in 2007. With a unique background in 3D Visualization, mechanical engineering, and a certification in Autodesk 3D Studio Max, Hugh constructs physically accurate, courtroom-accepted 3D environments and animations. He has over 13 years of experience as an expert in the field of Engineering Animation, demonstrating vehicular collisions, aviation accidents, biomechanical injuries, mechanical and structural failures, medical explanations and criminal cases to a trier of fact. These relationships are often captured in 2D and 3D to-scale exhibits that allow viewers to understand what happened and the important aspects of the case.
Hugh’s experience has an emphasis on new technology, including state-of-the-art data collection techniques, analysis, three-dimensional modeling, animations, photo and video forensic analysis, and demonstrative evidence. He has worked with experts in a variety of disciplines to assist with case demonstration and analysis, offering him a diverse portfolio of reconstruction scenarios. Hugh has lectured to Forensic Engineering Associations, Insurance Groups and Legal Associations on High-Definition Surveying and Computer Animations and continues his education as a member of the International Association of Forensic & Security Metrology (IAFSM).
When Hugh isn’t at the office, he enjoys long adventures with his Pitbull, Molly. A couple years ago, Hugh decided to take up firefighting and currently serves in the Oreland volunteer Fire Company. Despite the fact that he works in collision reconstruction, you will find him on his motorcycle whenever the sun is out.

James R. Schmidt, Jr., BSME
Collision Reconstruction Engineering Analyst
Jim began his career with DJS Associates, Inc. in 1998, and has been reconstructing collisions since 1996. He received his BSME from the University of Maryland, where he achieved Dean’s List Honors from start to finish, was elected to the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and graduated magna cum laude in the top of his engineering class. Jim’s experience in performing site and vehicle inspections, physical evidence evaluation, and reconstructing such things as vehicle speeds, dynamics, and timing of crash sequences, shapes the foundation for the “next-level” analyses he achieves with today’s technology. All types of collisions involving motor vehicles, self-propelled vehicles, and pedestrians are evaluated.
Jim’s meticulous examination of collisions caught by video, be it surveillance, dash cam, or cellphone, has made him known in the office and by clients as “Captain Video.” Jim’s eye for detail is second to none while performing analyses in support of the testifying engineer. He utilizes state of the art computer technology to analyze physical evidence shown in photographs and to simulate pre-impact, impact, and post-impact vehicle dynamics. Event data is oftentimes invaluable to the analyses that Jim performs.
Jim continues to grow his knowledge in the industry as a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, relaxing in his new home, and eating lots of pizza. In the summer, he loves to take cruise vacations and spend time at the beach.

John R. Yannaccone, P.E.
Senior Mechanical Engineer
John earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1989. With a focus on mechanical defects, failure analysis and general system safety, John’s expertise extends to the investigation and analysis of alleged mechanical failures of products including industrial equipment, consumer products, child safety seats, seatbelts, seatbacks, restraint systems, occupant restraints, wheelchair and patient lifts, lawnmowers, and ladders. John has over 25 years of experience in forensic investigations for the legal and insurance industries and has been involved with all aspects of investigation, research and product testing for various branches of the government, as well as private companies.
John is a registered professional engineer in several states and is also a member of numerous professional societies including National Academy of Forensic Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, SAE International, and American Society of Mechanical Engineer, among others. He has co-authored approximately two dozen peer reviewed papers and presented at numerous conferences. John is a nationally certified firefighter, vehicle rescue technician, and holds a certification in Child Passenger Safety Instruction. Along with additional training in various emergency service-related disciplines, John’s unique background provides an extensive understanding of emergency service incidents and occupant protection.

John and his wife recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with a trip to Hawaii, visiting three of the islands. They have three grown children, who live locally, and remain very close. John enjoys serving his community and is very active in his local fire company and municipal zoning hearing board.

Timothy P. Reilly, P.E.
Tim earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2009. He has over 10 years of design experience in the fields of traffic, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic control, work zone safety, roadway improvements, municipal improvements, recreational facilities, grading and drainage, commercial and residential land development, and ADA compliance. Tim is a consultant in the field of collision reconstruction, applying the laws of physics to investigate, analyze and reconstruct vehicular collisions, including those involving pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. Tim also provides expertise in the field of premise liability with his experience in ADA compliance. Tim specializes in traffic control, work zone safety, commercial shopping center traffic circulation, and code/ordinance compliance.
Tim is a licensed Professional Engineer and has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote pilot. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE).

Justin P. Schorr, PH.D
President, Principal Collision Reconstruction Engineer
Justin began his Secondary Education career by earning his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University in 2008 and completed his 11-year odyssey by earning his Master’s (2010) and Doctorate (2015) degrees in Civil Engineering from the George Washington University (GW). Justin’s education does not end there, however, as he has also completed specialized training in Collision Reconstruction, Event Data Recorders (EDR), and he is a certified drone pilot licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Still, after completing nearly 25 years of formal education, Justin will tell you that his most valuable training comes from a lifetime of education provided by his father and grandfather – both of whom were industry leaders in Collision Reconstruction.
As an active member of the academic research community, Justin has published four peer-reviewed journal articles and eight refereed conference papers in the field of transportation safety and driver behavior. While at GW, “Dr. J” (as he is referred to by his students) provided one on one presentations at the request of Mr. Ed Gillespie (former Gubernatorial Candidate in Virginia, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, and White House Counselor to George W. Bush), Major John Bell (Delegate 87th District, Virginia), David Birtwistle (CEO Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance), and, his personal favorite, Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (10th District, Virginia). Justin is also intimately involved in giving back to the community and delivered Keynote Addresses in 2013, 2014, and 2015 for GW’s Science and Technology Engineering Day and in 2013 for Schools Without Walls. Justin continues to serve as an adjunct professor and the lead researcher at the Vehicle Instrumentation and Driver Simulation Laboratory at GW. In addition, Justin has brought his engaging style of teaching to the legal, insurance, and engineering communities offering CE and CLE seminars on topics including Automated Vehicles, New Technology in Collision Reconstruction, and Driver Distraction.
The foundation for Justin’s expertise is rooted in three main segments: transportation engineering, applied mathematics, and intelligent systems engineering. Specific to collision reconstruction and intelligent vehicles, Justin is well trained in traffic engineering and highway safety, highway design, intelligent transportation systems, vehicle dynamics, real world crash investigation, crash investigation and analysis, vehicle standards and crash test analysis, and intelligent control systems.
Outside of work, Justin is an avid golfer and participates in Amateur tournaments on both the local and national level. Justin is the former captain of his high school and college Varsity Men’s Ice Hockey Clubs and has been a season ticket holder to his hometown Philadelphia Flyers since the day he was born! He also enjoys spending his time with his wife and their two cats, Mitch-The-Cat and Otis-The-Cat. Recently, Justin has begun offering his time and expertise to news stations and podcast series related to collision reconstruction and transportation safety, and has even had the opportunity to guest host the “Take A Knee” podcast with one of his favorite comedians, Adam Carolla.

Robert T. Lynch, P.E.
Principal Collision Reconstruction Engineer
Bob earned Bachelor of Arts Degrees in both Physics and Mathematics from Franklin & Marshall College before attending the University of Virginia, where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007. He completed a graduate level certification course in Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics (HFEE) through Penn State University in 2018. Bob is a licensed Professional Engineer and an accredited traffic accident reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstructionists (ACTAR). He is certified as a Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Technician and Analyst, certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) to access and interpret heavy vehicle event data recorders (HVEDR), and is also certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote pilot.
Bob has over 12 years of experience as a consultant in the field of collision reconstruction, applying the laws of physics to investigate, analyze and reconstruct vehicular collisions, including those involving pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. He has conducted field investigations and analyzed more than 1,000 motor vehicle collisions, including pedestrian impacts, for their crash characteristics and dynamics. Bob specializes in nighttime photography techniques, creating representative photographs of recreated scenes. He has developed his own peer-reviewed method to determine the severity of a collision through the use of an energy-based crush analysis.
Bob has worked on the research and development of vehicle occupant crash protection devices and has tested and validated energy-attenuating seating systems to military ground vehicles. He has specified and conducted full-scale vehicle crash tests and has aided local police agencies in homicide investigations. Bob is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Illumination Engineering Society (IES), the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP), the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS), and the National Association of Traffic Accident Reconstructionists and Investigators (NATARA). He has lectured to several of these organizations, as well as to attorneys, insurance professionals, and government organizations on topics related to collision reconstruction.
Bob played basketball at Franklin & Marshall College along with his twin brother Dan. Now, Bob and his wife Melissa live in lower Bucks County with their four sons: Jack(5), Sean(4), Connor(2), and their newest addition to the family, Joseph (born December, 2019).

Jon W. Adams
Director of 3D Reality Capture*
Jon earned an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology: Multimedia from ITT Technical Institute prior to attending the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University, where he completed an advanced certificate course in Computer Animation: 3D Animation. He has taken many courses related to the proper use and interpretation of 3D laser scanning data/equipment and holds a Certificate in the operation and use of the FARO Focus 3D Laser Scanner. Jon holds Professional Certifications for AutoDesk 3ds Max in Models to Motion and Surface and Look Development. He is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote pilot. Jon has been utilizing UAS-based photography to produce 3D photogrammetric data since 2014 and is a Pix4D Certified Expert.
Jon has 10 years of experience in both 3D modeling/animation and 3D laser scanning. He has conducted field investigations and analyzed hundreds of motor vehicles and sites and is an expert in producing three-dimensional exhibits based on accurate measurement information. Jon has planned, overseen, and compiled data for many historical preservation/building documentation projects, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Ferryboat Binghamton, and Mount Moriah Cemetery Gatehouse, all of which appear on the list of U.S. National Historic Landmarks and are often used as examples in educational seminars that Jon presents to the industry, law firms, insurance companies, and more.
When Jon isn’t working, he enjoys playing and watching sports, playing board games with his friends and family, and attending live comedy shows.

Lan T. Tomasi
Lan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2018 where she maintained memberships in the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers and Blue Dragon Bioimaging. After graduating, she built her experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, designing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components and systems for educational labs and hospital facilities. Now, as an Engineering Assistant for the DJS Collision Reconstruction Department, Lan assists in evaluating vehicular collisions. Utilizing scan data, physical evidence, discovery documents, and engineering software, Lan analyzes crash factors including vehicle speed, dynamics, and timing of crash sequences.
On the weekends, Lan enjoys spending time finding hiking trails to explore as well as trying new outdoor activities. When relaxing, she is usually bingeing Netflix and eating ice cream (exclusively Ben and Jerry’s) or cracking open a new book.
